XPAG & XPEG - REAR CRANK OIL LEAKS
One of the design failures of the engine is that the rear crank oil sealing arrangement is not terribly effective. Over the years many owners have complained of anything from oil drips to oil lakes appearing on their garage floors from the rear crank drain which emanates from the return oil scroll on the crank. At last, relief is at hand.
Specially designed oil seal and housing arrangement is available from ourselves, which can be fitted without machining to existing engines, which completely eliminates the problems of oil leakage from this point. Many hundreds of the kits have been sold and installed and it is well within the capabilities of the experienced DIY mechanic. The engine, however, does have to be removed for this work to be carried out. If you have an imperfect surface for the seal, we strongly recommend the fitting of a Speedi Sleeve to give an ideal surface for the seal.
The other main area of oil leakage the front crank seal, can be replaced with a new lip seal which fits into the existing housing with no machining whatsoever.
CAMSHAFT
It goes without saying that the camshaft is one of the most vital parts of the engine and plays an important part in determining the characteristics of the engine. Brown & Gammons have had many years of experience with the XPAG engine which has enabled them to offer a superb camshaft using the best of modern technology to produce a profile for standard road use giving enhanced mid-range torque and power that will make your T Type a delight to drive. Part No AAA3096 has been manufactured in EN408 with improved profile and larger base circle to minimise wear and give improved performance. AAA3096XD is a cross-drilled camshaft which features positive oil feed to every lobe in order to repel lobe wear.
AAA3096XD must be fitted with AAA3096PR or AAA3080ASSY.
